[Lilug-dev-sig] Locating the group once at panera

p.s. part of the reason I asked was that when I went to a si-sig meeting years ago, just once, they said it was preferred that only sysadmins attend those meetings, though technically because they accept charitable status they could not turn away anyone...  But what that meant to me was that you’re welcome to come, but you’re not really welcome.  In all honesty, all the people at that meeting were very friendly anyway, and I almost walked away with someone suggesting I apply for a job where they worked (not sure where now, one of the labs)..

Hi Rob, 

there is no need to be "considered" anything to come to a meeting. All you really need to be is interested. If you think hearing about the topics would be enjoyable then I say it is worth coming out. To me, a big part of the idea behind the group is to promote learning. The meetings aren't about gurus sitting around and congratulating each other on how awesome they are. 

The Dev-sig meetings are really informal. In my experience, we end up at tables just to the left of the door by the front glass (this is a convenient place to plug in your laptop). Dev-sig is a good place to talk about your project and what you are trying to achieve and maybe pick up some suggestions.

I honestly don’t have much planned for tonight either other than maybe watching the biggest loser finale, but that’ll be on io’s free NBC Prime Time on Demand service the next day if I really want to see it and I’m disabled/don’t work-for-a-living.

  The only concern, or main concern, is that the meeting is at a Panera and I’m not sure I’ll recognize any of the people at the meeting as I haven’t gone to one of these in about 2 years...  Back then they were at some office conference room.  Will I recognize any of the old faces there, and if not when I get to Panera, how will I know I’m at the right place?
