[Lilug] What makes these files: hda-chs.sf, hda-pt.parted, hda1.aa, hda1.ab, etc.

Ken it was probably split with the split command. I believe join puts them back together. Man split will help

Perhaps some automated script or person split the partimage file into 
pieces using the split command?
