[Lilug] Hosting Large Number of Domains

Thanks Rocco, been noticing the issue with SSL even without being at 1,000 domains, but seems my client has a woefully underpowered server for the amount of sites (at least that part can be easily fixed).

I've never used Plesk myself, but I ddo have experience with Apache and Nginx servers running 1000 - 3000 domains. If the sites are low traffic, the limiting factor tends to be the pool of SSL keys and certificates. If you have over 1000 SSL enabled domains, restarting the web server service becomes a slow process. Other than that, it shouldn't be a scaling issue if the site traffic is low.

Does anyone have experience hosting a large number of domains using Plesk?

I've gone through documentation and in some instances they say there are no limits on amount of sites you can host on a server (low traffic/low usage), given that the server has the proper ram and disk space. In other instances there seem to be issues using Nginx once you get to a larger amount of domains (over 500). It is configurable by changing the amount of open files allowed, but I'm loooking for advice on what's practical/advisable using Plesk (happens to be on CentOS) or for that matter general advice on number of sites per Nginx server.

Thanks,
