[Lilug] Interesting read and cautionary tale

Ya know..
This reminds me, I have a WD MyCloudMirror (on topic, as it runs linux and supports SSH into it) - anyway - I'm starting to wonder what the point of leaving it in "mirroring" mode is - I mean, if I turn that off I get twice as much storage, and also, if one disk 'starts to fail' will it not just replicate the bad data to the other disk?
Maybe I'm wrong. Opinions welcome.
