Hi Everyone,

If you're looking to up your skills during this time, I've found some great offers and even free stuff!

This is a good deal on good collection of O'Reilly books:

https://www.humblebundle.com/books/definitive-guides-to-all-things-programming-oreilly-books

One of the best things about it, you can get PDF DRM-free versions. O'Reilly used to also sell those direct but unfortunately recently made the decision to stop. You can buy from the usual suspects like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc, but only in mobi (Amazon) or epub(Barnes and Noble) which unfortunately does not always translate the layout and code nicely. Humble Bundle is a good way to get the PDF versions and they let you download in other formats if you want.

Another cool thing, O'Reilly has most of their books available, video training, and a whole lot more, on O'Reilly Learning Platform (formerly known as Safari). Not in PDF format, but great for reference. They also have stuff from other Publishers you're probably interested in (or should be) like No Starch Press, Apress and Packt. Normally they charge a minimum of $499 per year and arguably the price is justified. But if you join ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) with a professional membership for $99 for the year (https://www.acm.org/membership/join), access to O'Reilly Learning is included. Be sure you get the professional for $99, you don't need ACM Digital Library for $199 that's mainly for researchers. After that you have to access O'Reilly through ACM here (https://learning.acm.org/e-learning/oreilly) instead of the usual way. But this is an insane bargain. Plus you get a bunch of ACM stuff too.

Now for some free stuff...

Anyone that lives in NY State is eligible for a New York Public Library Card. You can get one online these days using the SimplyE app (https://www.nypl.org/books-music-movies/ebookcentral/simplye). Once you do you've got a whole world of great stuff opened up for you.

-borrow books on the SimpleE app or Overdrive App (limit 3 at a time implemented due to current situation)
-read free magazines with Flipster App
-access to an incredible amount of online database you normally have pay for (https://www.nypl.org/collections/articles-databases)
-within the databases is access to Lynda.com now known as LinkedIn learning, normally you'd have to pay $25 per month for this. Go to the link above and search for "Lynda" to get to it.. They have an incredible amount of tech training videos, plus business and creative topics.

That was a bit long, but I hope useful for people. Please feel free to forward this to friends or whoever.
