[Lilug] Dumb Thunderbird Question

I'm setting up my email on a different box using Thunderbird.

I set up the account as "ken at secdat.com", and name the incoming IMAP 
server   mail.example.com.

When I try to connect, it attempts to login as 
"ken at secdat.com@mail.example.com".

It appears to be setup *exactly* like my laptop which works fine.

Anybody know where they hide the switch to turn this off?
